    Hot Irishman's Historical Fact 01

imageThe Shortest War in History: History's shortest war began and ended in 1896. British ships began bombing the island of Zanzibar at 9am, and Zanzibar surrendered at about 9:45am, that same morning. The battle was prompted by the ascension to Zanzibar's throne of Khalid bin Barghash, second son to Sultan Hamad bin Thuwaini, who had died two days before. The British, who had sovereignty over the island, opposed the new Sultan. When he refused to step down, the British fired upon the island, quickly bringing the insurrection to an end. Gamer Talk: Wii Fit- Balance Board

    image

Pictured to your left is the Wii Balance Board. This board measures how much pressure you are giving on either leg or arm (depending if you are standing or pressing down with your hands on it). Therefore it has been announced by Shigeru Myamoto (hopefully correct spelling) himself that it is getting a lot of attention from other companies both game and  non game related. In addition he has announced that it woukd work well with a snowboard game........hmmmm 1080 Wii? Could be un;less they do a mii snowboarding game... hopefully they will have mii features in a traditional 1080 game! Therefore covering both the casual and hardcore/snowboarding scene.

    Gamer Talk: Nintendo DS

Hi, Puzzle League DS will be landing on our shores on the 29th June 2007. Does the image look famillar ?  Well Tetris Attack is back, all be it with a diffrent name... Diffrent name you ask? Yes ....well not exactly ....let me explain! A version of Tetris Attack was released on the Game Boy Color under the name Pokemon Puzzle League (Obviously Featuring Pokemon). This version of the game featured the word 'League' in the title, as in the pokemon games you take part in leagues and they extended this idea into Tetris Attack. So, seeing as this is the sucessor to that game ( Well in Europe), but with out pokemon, they have chosen to simply call it Puzzle League. Do I like the name? Yes and no. I like it because it sounds catchy, however I  do not like it because there are no leagues (as far as I am aware). However it is a better name than Tetris Attack as the series  shares very little with Tetris. (Part 2 to come)

Well finally    have relesed a video of the oft mentioned Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicals for the DS. The video can be accessed here  Video. The game looks impressive not only from a visal standpoint but also due to the fact that it should be eaiser to play/set up unlike the  innovative Gamecube Crystal Chronicals (hopefully due to online multiplayer).

Just a note to let you know that the Sunday Blog Will resume Normal Service This Sunday

    Not Mondays but Fridays.......

.....Virtual Console Fridays that is. How I could have got that wrong (see post below) seeing as Nintendo games are launched on Fridays (Europe). Well as I see it, this is a better day to launch games as the weekend can be used to enjoy them! . Therefore change Monday to Friday in the post below!

    Virtual Console Mondays

Hi, Now that I am the proud owner of a Nintendo Wii gaming console (since U.K. Launch) I will document the release of new virtal console games every monday (assuming that they are realease on Mondays, as in the US). Currently I have purchased one solitary game, Bomber Man 93, for the Turbo Grafx (Review to follow Shortly) I currently do not like the points system and whish that the games were charged for directly or 100 points at a time could be purchased. This is due to the nature of game point pricing leaving purchasers with points that they can not use unless they purchase more points.

    The Sunday Blog

    (image from www.timebooth.com)

It's Sunday and daylight savings time has begun (and with that so has the new weekly posting aptly named the Sunday Blog!!) Oh what joy we will now wake up and it will be dark, leave work and it will be dark!! Well with that little bit of negativity out  the way at least all this darkness is a good excuse to play computer/videogames. No longer can your parents or other-half tell you to go and get get some fresh air.... well if they do politely remind them that it is both DARK and COLD!!  However Top Banana does not condone playing computer/video games all the time do go outside at weekends during daylight hours and why not (if people still do these days) play a board game when its dark.

    Gamer Talk: Nintendo WiFi Darts

As you know I have recently been playing 42 all time classics on the Nintendo DS. Well, I am currently into darts over wiFi. This game is superb fun over WiFi as it allows for simple, quick gaming that soon becomes addictive, due to the rivalry that quickly ensues. It is all thanks to Nintendo/Agenda's inclusion of a worldwide ranking system. Therefore are you not only trying to win to beat your opponent(s), but you are also trying not to loose, otherwise you may end up sliding down the worldwide rankings. Currently I am placed 854/4633 for Darts...anyhow back to the game cant keep my opponents waiting. Hopefully I'll see you for a game of Darts?

Gamer Talk: 42 All Time Classics (Club House Games)

Well here is part two of the review as promised (written using the NEW windows live writer :-) ) Well where to start? well basically I urge you all to give  42 All Time Classics (Club House Games) a go as it is addictive, especially over WIFI (ONLINE). It has pick up and play gaming that everybody can learn and enjoy. I especially like Billiards (over wifi of course) as it feels great knowing you beat more than just a cpu controled player.Top Banana  For more info visit Touch Generations

Gamer Talk: 42 All Time Classics (Club House Games)

jUST recieved the Nintendo DS card/board/action/etc  virtual games chest (as I like to refer to it as) in the post yesterday No more lugging round that Billiards/Pool table to your mates house (Like you did that any way??) now all you need is one DS console and a copy of 42 All Time Classics (Club House Games). Do not be put off by:

    1. its content
    2. its graphical style
    3. its music
    4. its price

The above list consists of points that I know will deter/put off a lot of people from picking up this game. Now you are probably wandering why I am mentioning price as a deterant , well in most stores (not HMV) it is being sold at the relitively budget price of £19.99. Why is this an issue? well many people percieve a  just released low priced game as making up for its shortcommings in the price. I can definately say this is not the case with 42 All Time Classics (Club House Games) from Nintendo/Agenda.  (Part 1 of review)

Gamer Talk:Playstation 3 delayed in europe and other PAL teritories!!

Well the ps3 is officially delayed in europe and aLL other PAL territories till march 2007. Nintendo will have to utilise this to their advantage. As to my console preference  the Nintendo Wii it was right from the beginning.
